I, the person, (hee hee hee) hereby declare that all persons involved in this little abolition of shopping for anything fun, should be able to buy anything that costs under $10.
Can we all agree to that?!?
Let me know.

I caved...
But, not entirely.
It's February 26th and I purchased 3 things... and now I am thinking that accessories shouldn't count... but, I made the rules, most of them, so I should follow them right?!?

At least, I can buy a bathing suit as a freebee, right M.E.??? Wait... yikes... I am not even tempted by that.
It wasn't my fault though... well, I guess the part where I walked into Anthropologie WAS my fault, but what happened once I got inside could not be helped.
But, look how cute my new digs are.
I say I should actually get credit for ONLY buying 3 things, right!?!
I wore my new ruffle skirt to work and this is what they said "frou frou, fancy you, hot mama." Ha ha ha... It's denim people, don't let the ruffle throw you off! But, I guess that's what I get for working in a construction firm.

bathing suit
Alright ladies. This is a tough one. In order to get a bathing suit that works for me (i.e. a one piece that actually covers my long torso), I need to order it early in the season. Lesson learned years ago - if you wait until May (let alone July), the long torso suits will no longer be in stock.
So this is my request / plea - king's x on bathing suits.
In agreement? (she says in hopeful anticipation)

What's old is new again!!
Okay... there has been a funny thing happening to me lately... I haven't been shopping, so I have actually been wearing what is in my closet... and getting compliments on my clothes!! The girls at work keep commenting on my clothes at work and asking if they are new and I can happily tell them that I just went shopping in my closet!!! It is exciting, but sad at the same time that I can actually go "shopping" in my closet. Another good thing that has come of the closer look at my closet is, I am getting rid of an entire bag of clothing!! Also, my cute friend April is "renting" some of my clothes for a while. So, I get to help out a friend and make some extra cash... for spending on something like... books. :)
(that was for you, Ali!! :) )
question for the team
So do layering camisoles count as one of the 5? I'm in dire need of the basic Shade layering camisole as the dryer just ate mine. Can that be considered part of the necessities category?

Just so you all know...
It's been 28 days (isn't that like some sort of milestone for alcoholics, BTW???)... anywhoooo...
And, I have not purchased shoes, accessories or clothes. (Nor has anyone purchased any for me... thanks to M.E.'s added rule, which I still do not like, just for the record).
People keep asking me if my clothes are new... and it makes me laugh, because I never really wear the old clothes (which I have been lately) because they get lost in my closet. So, that's nice, I guess.
But, the true sacrifice is this... I have been "brick" training, because my friend Brooke REALLY wants me to do a triathlon in September. So, I wanted to see how many calories a person burns while swimming. So, of course, I went to ask.com.
As it turns out, a person generally burns 150 calories an hour shopping! (250 if you're grocery shopping... but who grocery shops FOR AN HOUR?!?)
So, basically I just wanted you all to know that I am pretty sure I am gaining weight on this silly new goal of ours. And, if I grow out of all my old clothes... well, then I am really screwed, at least until July, right?
Whose bright idea was this anyway?!?

focus
m.e.
I used 1 of my 5 things last night and it took all of my self control to just limit it to 1 thing. BCBG was having a great sale and I was proud that I walked out with the 1 thing I went in to buy.
So I'm down to 4 things in 5 1/2 months.
This is tough.
