Just so you all know...

It's been 28 days (isn't that like some sort of milestone for alcoholics, BTW???)... anywhoooo...

And, I have not purchased shoes, accessories or clothes. (Nor has anyone purchased any for me... thanks to M.E.'s added rule, which I still do not like, just for the record).

People keep asking me if my clothes are new... and it makes me laugh, because I never really wear the old clothes (which I have been lately) because they get lost in my closet. So, that's nice, I guess.

But, the true sacrifice is this... I have been "brick" training, because my friend Brooke REALLY wants me to do a triathlon in September. So, I wanted to see how many calories a person burns while swimming. So, of course, I went to ask.com.

As it turns out, a person generally burns 150 calories an hour shopping! (250 if you're grocery shopping... but who grocery shops FOR AN HOUR?!?)

So, basically I just wanted you all to know that I am pretty sure I am gaining weight on this silly new goal of ours. And, if I grow out of all my old clothes... well, then I am really screwed, at least until July, right?

Whose bright idea was this anyway?!?

focus

m.e.

I used 1 of my 5 things last night and it took all of my self control to just limit it to 1 thing. BCBG was having a great sale and I was proud that I walked out with the 1 thing I went in to buy.

So I'm down to 4 things in 5 1/2 months.

This is tough.

The Fab Four and the Challenge

So, the idea behind this blog came at a New Year's Day luncheon in Las Vegas. We were sitting around eating lunch and Ali and M.E. decided that they were going to stop shopping for 6 months and if they did buy something in the 6 months, then they would owe the other person $200. Well, Kelli and I soon joined in and the rules changed and here is what we came up with:

1. No shopping for clothes, shoes, accessories for 6 months. Starting January 1, 2009 and ending July 1, 2009.

2. You are allowed to buy toiletries, including makeup.

3. You are allowed, if you choose, to buy 5 things. These can include clothing items, shoes, etc. After all, 6 months is a long time, especially when you live by the beach!

4. If you buy more than 5 things, you owe the other three gals $200, which they get to split equally.

5. You are on your honor!! :)

6. You need to blog for support... so here is your outlet!

These are the rules as I remember them. I am excited to see how this goes and what kind of self-control we all have. With the release of "Confessions of a Shopaholic" in February, I will look forward to that being my outlet for my shopping wants!!

GOOD LUCK! The challenge has been issued!!
